Description
The Spitfire in this picture is the world’s only airworthy PR.XI, PL965/R G-MKXI, owned by Peter Teichman and kept as part of the Hangar XI Collection at North Weald.
Of all the roles undertaken by the Supermarine Spitfire, one task in which it excelled was photographic reconnaissance (photo-recce or PR). The final variant of the Spitfire family to be built specifically as a specialist photo-recce aircraft, optimised for flight at high speed and high altitude, was the Spitfire PR Mk XIX. Of the total of 20,341 Spitfires produced only 225 were built as PR XIXs and some might argue that these are the most elegant-looking of all Spitfires. Today, there are only four examples of this ultimate Spitfire in the world in airworthy condition.
This photo was made with a 50 mp full frame Canon EOS 5DSR on "Battle of Britain Day" during a recent trip to the UK. Further work was accomplished in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.

It's wonderful Chris! L/F!
Chris Lord replied:
Hi Meg, I had another great year at the airshows over the pond except the one day that the Hawker Hunter crashed on the road and killed a bunch of folks. Lots of rain too but ended up with some terrific new shots to work with. Thank you very much indeed. Cheers
