It's a great portrait, perfect angle. Those were airplanes. Spitfires and Lancasters, P-51 Mustangs and B-17’s. You can still “see” them and “hear” them around Suffolk and Kent. Good friend of mine from Hampshire had an uncle in the Dam Busters. Last October, in a friend’s farm in Suffolk in a clear blue morning I looked up and there was a 1944 Spit having fun in the sky, just for me. One of those with the clipped wing tips that used to go after V2’s. Four weeks later my son’s neighbor in Florida let me sit in the cockpit of his 1945 P-51. Sorry to hear about your mom. It’s always nice to go home though. Even nicer to have more than one.

Chris Lord replied:

Luckily I got to a good number of airshows so have quite a library of decent plane pics to look back on. The BBMF Lancaster was certainly always a favorite only topped maybe by the Vulcan. Cheers

I can almost hear those Merlin engines purr... Great image.

Chris Lord replied:

Thank you Dimitris, I spent many summers visiting my mother in England and always visited the airshows while there. She's gone now and I'm not going back so much and I kind of miss the planes myself these days.

Marvelous shot! l/f!

Chris Lord replied:

Thanks very much, Meg, I'm missing the airshows now that I'm not spending all that time in England. Still, now I get to see the rest of the world! Cheers
