Lovely, Chris. Soothing background and tones, and the swallows- great crispness and color! l/f/p

Chris Lord replied:

One of the five exposures used was a misty sunset shot that really gave the background that tone and look, thanks for mentioning that. Very gratefull for your nice comment, cheers.

Nice!! Awesome capture Chris! (interesting lens and camera combo) L/F

Chris Lord replied:

Hi Bob, one has to use "focus peaking" to focus manually with the Canon lenses but there just are not many native lenses for the Sony yet. I LOVE the camera however so there ya go! I probably should have lugged the big Canon out there but would still have ended up doing the composite because, well, that's me! :-) Thanks very much my friend, cheers

This is such a fabulous piece Chris - there is something hauntingly beautiful about it. The backdrop is perfect and the light, as always, so lovely. F/L FB TP

Chris Lord replied:

I had just the perfect misty sunset to drop over the whole thing which gives it that quality Lianne, I'm very happy that you enjoyed the result. Thanks so much for the great encouraging comment, cheers

This is wonderful Chris! Love the light and tones and focus. Excellent work! L/F!

Chris Lord replied:

For this sort of thing the Sony makes life a little harder as the lack of long native lenses is problematic. Using Canon lenses one must wait for ever for the camera to acquire focus or shoot in manual focus mode. "Focus peaking", a feature on this camera does make that easier but it's still not fast enough to get shots of birds in flight etc. So I shot a great many shots and picking the best ones made a composite. Where there is a will there is a way! :-) Time consuming but I was pleased with this too. Thanks for confirming my feelings on it Meg. Cheers

About Chris Lord

Chris Lord

Contemporary Photographic Art and Travel Photography. I'm the Head Pixie and Pixel Pusher at Pixielated Pixels, British born and bred but New York City-based. I first picked up a camera around 60 years ago. After all these years I am finally happy, creating the images I always dreamed of. Shooting film and printing in the darkroom never gave me as much pleasure as powerful computers and Adobe's wonderful software does today. I began working with computers in the mid-1980s, and now I have become confident and competent with the tools at hand and feel that the world has finally caught up with my eclectic artistic vision. Intense and powerful colors and a somewhat surreal take on reality are the way my mind works and I enjoy producing images...
